Stourbridge

A West Midlands county market town is Stourbridge /ˈstaʊərbrɪdʒ/ in England. Stourbridge includes the Lye, Amblecote, Oldswinford, Norton, Wollaston, Pedmore, Wordsley and Wollescote suburbs, sitting at the Black Country's edge within the Dudley Metropolitan Borough. Relocated a couple of miles north when Amblecote was incorporated into the Borough of Stourbridge, was the Stourbridge border between Worcestershire and Staffordshire, which for centuries had been marked by the River Stour, in 1966.

Stands on the Stourbridge Canal at Wordsley, is the Red House Cone, of its kind thought to be the only remaining glass cone that is complete. One of the more affluent towns in the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley although in parts today, to suffer deprivation it continues, is Stourbridge. Stourbridge Bus Station in April 2012, underwent redevelopment that was substantial and as Stourbridge Interchange re-opened.

Awarded Fairtrade Town status in 2010 was Stourbridge. In the Clock Square, Stourbridge Farmers' and Craft Market take place on the first and third Saturday of every month. Have two stations, the main one being Stourbridge Junction, is Stourbridge. Served only by a shuttle to and from Stourbridge Junction is the other station, Stourbridge Town.

Formed in 1958 and specialises in art and design was Stourbridge College. With Kinver Edge and Shropshire to the west and to the south Clent Hills, close to countryside is Stourbridge, bordered by green belt land. Stourbridge into the Dudley Metropolitan Borough was amalgamated and became in 1974, part of the County of West Midlands that is wider, following the Local Government Act 1972.

It is the location of the Red House Glass Museum and in the traditional way, there are blowing glass demonstrations that are regular, and at Broadfield House Glass Museum in Kingswinford, a collection of Stourbridge glass can be seen. Opened in the former Company, Rastrick, and Foster foundry which was renovated - where the Stourbridge Lion was manufactured, was Lion Health medical centre in 2014.

Address to a mix of independent and chain pubs, shops, restaurants, coffee shops, a yoga studio and gyms is Stourbridge High Street. Links the town to the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal and the Dudley No. 1 Canal, is the Stourbridge Canal. At the Hospital School of Old Swinford, which in 1667 was founded by Thomas Foley, the politician born in Stourbridge, there is also a sixth form.
